Favourite Roman Rooftops

Rome is overrun with tourist nearly all year long and summer is particularly dreadful, so sometimes you just need to escape the crowds and enjoy the beauty of Rome from above. When I just can’t take the throngs of tourists any longer I ascend to these little rooftop havens πŸ™‚

Albergo Cesari – This one has some swanky decor and is open at night for snacks and cocktails. It’s a few minutes walk from the Pantheon and looks out onto a lovely little piazza with some Roman columns.

Hotel Raphael – Just off the north end of Piazza Navona, this one is a little pricey, but has amazing 360 views of the city.

Grand Hotel de la Minerve – I love this one because the space is massive and it is opening during the day as well as the evening. It has an amazing view of the Monumento Nazionale and the backside of the Pantheon.

Hotel Forum Rooftop Garden – A small space with a beautiful spot to catch the sunset and an extremely friendly staff! Last I was there it was raining a bit and we caught the view of a rainbow followed by a spectacular sunset. It’s a few minutes walk from the Colosseum.
