A Day in Downtown LA

IMG_3243-2

I’ll admit it up front: I am not LA’s biggest fan. I think of it less as a proper city and more as a large urban sprawl with horrendous traffic and poor public transport. It has never tickled my fancy much. These things aside, I won’t deny it has some great restaurants and activities. Having a visitor always helps one to discover jewels in their own playground. I had such a friend visiting last week – a Canadian fellow King’s College London-er – and we had a grand day of little adventures in Downtown LA (DTLA).

Pristina, Kosovo: Updated

IMG_0358

Pristina is all about its restaurants and bars – as, sadly to admit, there isn’t too much else to do in the city. Having lived in Pristina all summer I’ve got some new jems to share. Also things in this city are constantly closing and opening for this and that so an occasional update is completely necessary.

Double Trouble: Two Roman Gelaterias

IMG_9762

Like London and its seemingly infinite number of pubs, Rome is chalk full of gelaterias. Countless really. And I’m sure there are at least 50 establishments people claim as the best gelateria in Rome. I won’t pretend to know, with certainty, the absolute best gelateria in Rome, but the following two are ones I always return to.

I’ve been asked at least 1,390,034 times just why I LOVE London so much and part of that answer is: the pub culture. I am the ultimate sucker for a traditional cosy pub replete with wood-paneled walls, open fire places, and stacks on stacks of board games. There are more amazing pubs in London than one could ever possibly discover, but these were my regular haunts whilst living in London.

Yup, this restaurant gets its own post. It is not an exaggeration or overstatement when I say that Enoteca Cul de Sac is my favourite restaurant in the world (thus far). I have specifically made trips to Rome just to eat lunch and dinner here and then carry on with my travels. I have dreams about this place. Whenever I am in Rome, I eat here every day and the people I drag with me do not mind in the slightest. Over the past eight years I have probably sent over 40 people to this restaurant, and every single one reports back that they absolutely loved it and also went multiple times over their stay in Rome.

Eateries in Laguna Beach, California

IMG_8496

I’m missing home a bit – mostly the food (veggie-friendly Kosovo cuisine is rather redundant), but also, ya know…my family and beach too so thought I’d chit chat about home. Though Laguna Beach is a tiny little town, it is chalk full of amazing spots to grab a bite or a drink. These are my more frequented spots. Continue reading “Eateries in Laguna Beach, California”
